No formal statement after tomorrow’s Riga summit – TDS

FXStreet (Barcelona) - According to The TD Securities Team the Eurogroup-Greece meeting tomorrow is likely to remain another no-show as major emphasis remains on the end-June meeting and because of the absence of any statement post the meet.

Key Quotes

“The EUR has recovered all of the overnight weakness at the time of writing, and currently trades at around 1.0740. News on Greece could have the potential to magnify or reverse these moves, although we don’t expect anything major from that front today.”

“In fact, we may see headlines from Greek PM Tsipras and German Chancellor Merkel speaking on the sidelines of today’s EU Leaders’ Summit. But these are likely to be little more than diplomatic niceties.”

“Overall, European leaders seem to be trying to manage expectations and focus on the end-June deadline rather than intermediate steps.”

“Sources after yesterday’s Euro Working Group conference call suggest there is no plan to provide any statement after tomorrow’s Summit in Riga on Greece. So while it will be discussed and we almost certainly will see leaks after the fact about what was said, we should not expect anything formal.”
